Nestled on the banks of the Whippany River, and on old native American ground, Whippany, NJ is a quiet place to live. The town is home to some absolutely incredible seafood restaurants. From lobster to salmon, here is the list of our favorite places for great seafood grub.

H2Ocean Restaurant and Raw Bar

With such a fantastic name for a seafood joint, you know you’re in for something special before you even walk in. The puns don’t stop at the name either, almost everything in this restaurant is rather punny, but that doesn’t stop them rustling up some of the best seafood in town.

There are plenty of American classics here such as the Maine lobster roll, but what really sets this place apart is its international selection. Mexican fish tacos, British fish and chips, Norwegian salmon tartare, and Peruvian scallop ceviche are just a few of the delectable offerings unique to H2Ocean’s menu. Or, for a family feast, try the “Mother Shucker,” a huge plate fully loaded with crab, lobster, shrimp, clams, and oysters.

Barka

Run by top chefs with over 20 years of experience in authentic, high-end Italian restaurants, Barka is a true taste of the Mediterranean. This menu is packed full of European classics such as lobster bisque, mussels, pizza, pasta, and calamari, and all the seafood is locally caught and fresh from the sea. If you’re looking for something meaty, then steak is also available and goes right up to a massive 20oz rib eye.

Make sure you don’t fill yourself up on seafood though because the dessert menu is also full of truly incredible treats. Tiramisu, chocolate lava cake, warm apple strudel, and New York cheesecake are just some of the mouthwatering dishes to end a perfect evening.

South + Pine American Eatery

We go back to some local, American-style seafood this time, as the head chef of South + Pine was born and raised right here in New Jersey. She has even worked for over 7 years as executive chef for 5 of Bobby Flay’s restaurants and served as his sous chef three times on Iron Chef America.

With experience like this, you know the food here is going to be something memorable, and it is. Serving up brunch, lunch, and dinner, you can expect to see classic home food with a twist such as pork belly porchetta with farro, and duck breast with braised cabbage. Of, course, there are some incredible fish dishes too, including a Korean BBQ salmon with kimchi fried rice, and monkfish with a warm potato salad
