Although the new Maserati Quattroporte costs more than the new Maserati Ghibli, its higher price brings you a longer wheelbase and more generous interior dimensions. Just for starters, note that the Quattroporte offers 19 cubic feet of trunk space, compared to 17.7 cubic feet in the Ghibli.

Also, the Quattroporte comes standard with several features that cost extra in the Ghibli. These include:

Lastly, note that the Quattroporte can be optioned with either four or five seats. The Ghibli always has seating for five.

• Trofeo Models: 3.8L V8 with 580 hp and 538 lb-ft of torque

That’s primarily due to several factors:

• With a 125-inch wheelbase, the Maserati Quattroporte offers a smoother ride than the Ghibli. Meanwhile, the Ghibli wheelbase comes in at 118 inches. In general, vehicles with longer wheelbases are better able to absorb bumps in the road without impacting passenger comfort very much if at all.

• One thing the Ghibli does have on the Quattroporte is the gas mileage. The Ghibli offers better fuel economy than the Quattroporte—an advantage of 1 or 2 mpg in most trims. The lighter weight and smaller wheelbase make the Quattroporte better-suited for driving on city streets where fuel efficiency is paramount.
